Rai Uchiha was a shinobi of the Uchiha clan who awakened both the Sharingan and Mangekyō Sharingan during his youth. He's best known for his skillful use of Izanagi, the forbidden technique that allows a user to rewrite reality itself.
During a brutal conflict between shinobi clans, Rai and his comrades were caught in a devastating trap that killed most of his group. Rather than accept defeat, Rai sacrificed his left eye to activate Izanagi, turning the tables and annihilating his enemies. The experience left him convinced—and vocal about it—that the Uchiha clan's dōjutsu made them truly invincible. His mastery of the technique earned him leadership of his small unit of shinobi.
That confidence didn't last long. Rai was eventually challenged by a fellow Uchiha named Baru, who matched him in skill and ultimately killed him using Izanagi as well.
