Doc—as pretty much everyone calls him—runs the only hospital in Hole dedicated to treating Magic users who've been caught in accidents or attacks. It's grim work. He deals with injuries that would make most people's stomachs turn, and he doesn't always win. People die on his table. But the reality is that without Doc, the body count in Hole would be a lot higher. He's the reason people survive things they probably shouldn't, and that matters, even if the job itself is nightmarish.
