Shuu comes across as the class clown type, but he's actually pretty perceptive beneath all the joking around. He was the first to catch on that Chitoge and Raku weren't actually a couple, despite their whole fake dating setup. What's more, he figured out Tsugumi was a girl way before most people—though he deliberately kept quiet about it and just went along with the act because he found it hilarious. Fans often note that Shuu will basically do anything if it means getting a laugh, which tracks with his personality. He and Raku are best friends.
