Leon started out as a cook at Yang Spring Restaurant, where he showed genuine talent for cooking—a natural gift he shared with Mao. He was kind-hearted as a kid, even refusing to kill animals for his dishes and saying prayers over them with red paper talismans. But his hunger to improve drove him to leave the restaurant and travel across China searching for new techniques and teachers.
Eventually, that obsession led him to join the Dark Cooking Society. Under their influence, his knife skills reached an almost inhuman level, but so did his ego. He became consumed with being the best, to the point where he sought out Luo Xie, China's greatest knife forger, and commissioned him to create the ultimate blade set: the Seven-Star Knives. When Luo Xie casually mentioned he'd one day make something even better, Leon snapped. He stabbed the forger off a cliff in a fit of rage—a moment that traumatized him and marked a turning point.
That's when Leon realized what the Dark Cooking Society really was and got out. He showed up at Yang Spring Restaurant demanding one of the Legendary Cooking Utensils, claiming it was his by right, but Ruoh made him prove himself against Mao first. After losing, Leon came clean about everything—including the fact that he, like Mao, is a successor to the Ever-Soul knife. He's the sole owner of the Seven-Star Knives, though he later encounters an Underground chef named Shan An who has duplicates.
Now he travels with Mao to hunt down the Legendary Cooking Utensils before the Dark Cooking Society can get their hands on them.
