Hachiken Shingo is Yuugo's older brother—the one who actually got into Tokyo University, Japan's most prestigious school, before dropping out almost immediately. Once his father's dream of having a son attend there was fulfilled, Shingo realized he had his own path to chase: becoming a great cook. He's been traveling around the country ever since, trying to hone his skills with mixed success at best. He pops into Ooezo fairly often to see Yuugo, though his brother's never exactly thrilled about the visits.
