Sui Wan comes from money—old money—but he was tired of the bubble it created around him. He basically wanted a normal high school experience where people would actually like him for who he is, not because his family's loaded. So he enrolled at the same school as Shi Miao and Shi Fen, hoping to figure out if anyone would bother with him if wealth wasn't on the table.
He was genuinely paranoid that people only stuck around because of his bank account or his looks. That insecurity drove the whole transfer. Once he got there though, things shifted. He ended up becoming close friends with Shi Fen and Kai Xin, which probably helped answer some of those questions he had about himself.
