Santa shows up in the very first episode of Hayate no Gotoku, where he basically tells Hayate to stop slacking and start earning his own keep. It's a pretty blunt wake-up call that sets the tone for the whole series—Hayate's broke, his parents are useless, and he's gotta fend for himself.
