Kazuya is the story's main protagonist and a Limiter attending West Genetics. He's best known for being a rare male who can actually generate stigmas—the power usually exclusive to female Pandoras. Even more unusual, his synchronization rate with his stigmas is so high that he can freeze opponents without needing the "baptism" ceremony that normally bonds a Limiter to their Pandora partner. His freezing ability completely immobilizes targets and can even shatter other Limiters' freezing powers, making him an ideal match for Satellizer, who refuses to be baptized because she sees the ritual as invasive.
Kazuya's drive to become a Limiter stems from his sister Kazuha. She died fighting a powerful Nova that invaded Japan years ago, and he's drawn to Satellizer because she reminds him of her. The two form an unlikely partnership based partly on mutual respect and partly on the fact that her refusal to undergo baptism actually works in his favor—he doesn't need it anyway.
