Badtz-Maru is basically a self-absorbed little penguin who loves trash-talking himself and doesn't apologize for it. He's genuinely talented at being annoying—though there's apparently a softer side buried in there somewhere. His name breaks down pretty simply: "badtz" (badsu) is Japanese for "X" (the wrong answer), while "maru" means "O" (the right answer). Put them together and you get "wrong-correct," which is why you'll often see him represented as "XO."
Visually, he's known for that signature move—pulling one eye down and sticking his tongue out—though he cycles through plenty of other expressions and poses. Born April 1st, 1993, Badtz-Maru's been causing trouble ever since.
