Liechtenstein is a tiny, understated country wedged between Austria and Switzerland. She's basically Switzerland's little sister—not by blood, but by choice and circumstance. Switzerland practically runs things for her: he handles her military defense, there's no border control between them, and residents can move freely back and forth.
Their bond formed right after WWI. Liechtenstein wasn't in the war itself, but being surrounded by countries that were left her facing famine, poverty, and the real threat of collapse. Just as she was about to lose her independence entirely, Switzerland stepped in and saved her. The gratitude stuck. She admired him so much that she famously cut her long braids into a short bob just to look more like him.
Personality-wise, she's surprisingly practical and tech-savvy despite her quiet demeanor. She'll speak her mind directly when needed, though she can clam up and get shy. She's also pretty self-conscious—especially about her appearance. There's a famous incident where someone mistook her for Switzerland's little brother while they were out together. To help her feel more feminine, he took her shopping and let her pick out a ribbon. She chose blue, and it's become her signature accessory, always tied on the right side of her head.

Her official human name was never finalized. Creator Hidekaz Himaruya once mentioned considering "Elise," "Erika," "Eva," or "Sisia" with the possible surname "Vogel," but since nothing became canon, fans typically call her "Lili"—a nod to both her country's name and its national flower.
