Li Xingyun's past is shrouded in mystery. He entered the martial world at just nine years old, and after the fall of Yuzhou City and Li Huan's death, he became a student under Yang Shuzi. For eight years he trained in martial arts before finally leaving the mountain in 912 (the second year of Qianhua) to explore the wider martial world alongside his junior sister, Lu Linxuan.
His story gets complicated once people figure out he's carrying the Longquan Sword—suddenly he's got half the martial world on his heels. Around this time he crosses paths with Ji Ruxue, a maid working for Huanyin Pavilion, and Zhang Zifan, a young master from Tongwen Hall. The four of them hit it off and started adventuring together, dealing with whatever trouble inevitably followed.
