Algol is a Silver Saint best known for his role as one of the main antagonists during the Galaxian Wars arc. He was sent on a mission to destroy the Colosseum hosting the tournament and kidnap Saori Kido, though he's often remembered more for his pivotal battles against the Bronze Saints.
What made Algol stand out was his weapon, the Shield of Medusa—a brutal tool that could turn opponents to stone just by opening its eyes. He used it to petrify Andromeda Shun, which alarmed even his fellow Silver Saints and caught the Bronze Saints' attention. Phoenix Ikki notably warned the others that Algol was tougher and more dangerous than the typical Saint they'd faced.
His most famous fight came against Dragon Shiryū. In a clever move, Shiryū blinded Algol by gouging out his own eyes, rendering the Medusa Shield useless since it relied on visual contact. This desperation tactic kept the other Bronze Saints alive long enough for Shiryū to finish the fight. Even blind, Shiryū managed to heighten his Cosmo enough to "see" his opponent and ultimately defeat Algol when the Silver Saint made his final charge.
