Tokimune Susumu is a young, reckless soldier in the Arandas Army's 8th Autonomous Unit who pilots a Trail Krieger. He's driven by a strong sense of justice, though his inexperience shows—especially when his idealism gets in the way of following orders, much to the frustration of his squad mates.
His impulsiveness has a habit of creating problems. Most notably, he once disobeyed direct orders to help a civilian convoy being pursued by Ingelmian forces. That convoy was carrying Argevollen, the series' titular mecha, which Tokimune ended up piloting in his first combat without realizing he'd become its exclusive pilot. After that baptism by fire, Lieutenant Samonji officially assigned him to the machine.
