Souya Minamino is a friend of Hayate and Ayumu from their days at Shiomi High School. He's best known for being an exceptional swimmer—basically the only thing he's genuinely skilled at, according to Ayumu. Interestingly, Souya was the main character in Kenjiro Hata's earlier manga series, Heroes of the Sea Lifesavers, before appearing in Hayate no Gotoku!
