Beta is one of Sophia Amae's creations—essentially her "child" alongside being Horyang and Cassano's "brother." He's a living Ignition Weapon made by the Workshop, which already sets him apart from most characters in the series.
After the Workshop Battle went down, Beta joined up with Team Novick, mainly because he wanted to track down Cassano. He's been staying at Khun's Lighthouse since then, which seems to be where things have settled for him at least temporarily.
