Shuu comes across as the reserved type in Team Otori, but there's actual depth to how he got here. After losing his father, he threw himself into musicals as a way to cheer up his mom—watching performances on TV basically sparked his whole passion for the art. That drive eventually led him to pursue it seriously, though Izumi's pointed out that Shuu only ended up in Team Otori because he was late to the auditions for Team Hiragi. Fans often note the irony that he probably had the chops to make the latter team, but timing is everything.
