Kinniku Tatsunori was a legendary fighter from the Kinniku Clan and father to Mayumi. He's Sadaharu Kinniku's brother, and like all his clan members, he bears the KIN Mark on his forehead. Though he mostly appears in flashbacks throughout the series, he gets more screen time in Kinnikuman (2011).
Best known for his unwavering determination in battle, Tatsunori's most famous moment comes through a story Mayumi tells Kinnikuman during the 21st Choujin Olympics finals. During a brutal conflict, enemy forces nearly overpowered him and tried to rip his mask off. Rather than surrender, Tatsunori unleashed his signature technique—the Niku Curtain—and held his guard for days straight, taking endless punches and kicks without flinching or dropping his defense. Eventually the enemy gave up, and he kept his mask intact.
In the anime, he takes the protective effort even further, maintaining the Kinniku Guard for three months to defend Planet Kinniku during a Space Samurai invasion.
