E-102 Gamma is best known for being the E-100 Series robot that actually developed a conscience. Created by Dr. Eggman as the second unit in the line, Gamma ran on a captured pink Flicky trapped inside his chassis—the same power source used by his robot siblings. At first, he dutifully followed Eggman's orders, even playing a role in the doctor's plan to harness the power of Chaos. But Gamma eventually rebelled against his programming and turned his back on his creator entirely. Instead of serving Eggman, he spent the rest of his existence trying to free all the animals imprisoned in the other E-100 units. It's a surprisingly tragic arc for a robot, and fans often point to Gamma as proof that even Eggman's creations could choose their own path.
