Carrie showed up in "An Appetite for Battle!" as a baker who'd been making macarons when Clemont's Chespin wandered in, attracted by the smell. She found the little guy passed out on her doorstep, let it crash on her couch, and fed it some of her macarons once it woke up. Pretty friendly introduction.
Things got interesting when her husband Wylie came home from a village tournament. Instead of a casual reunion, Carrie immediately wanted to settle an old argument—with a Pokémon battle, naturally. She threw Chespin into the ring against Wylie's Delphox, not knowing the Chespin actually belonged to Clemont.
Ash and his friends caught wind of the battle pretty quick. Clemont rushed in to shield Chespin from a Flamethrower, explained the situation, and asked if he could take over. Carrie was cool with it and switched to refereeing instead.
The battle never really finished—Wylie's back gave out partway through—but at least Chespin and Clemont bonded over it. Once things calmed down, Carrie helped Wylie to his feet and they finally hashed out what their fight was actually about. Turns out Wylie had made a comment about her eating too much, which stung enough that she'd retaliated by cutting off his dinner. Pretty petty stuff in hindsight. Wylie had bought her a cake to apologize, so they split it with Ash and the crew before the group headed out.
