Custas is a travelling minstrel who owes his life to Coco after she pulled him out of a river. He gets around on augmented wooden legs.
His rough upbringing shaped everything about him. He's obsessed with fate—sees it as this cruel force that ruined his life—and desperately wants to escape it. Money is always on his mind, which is why he jumped at the chance to learn medicinal herbs from Tartah. That said, he's deeply uncomfortable with being helped. He knows Dagda and Coco literally keep him alive, and he's always trying to square the debt, especially when it comes to Dagda taking dangerous work on his behalf. He hates it enough to ask the man to just leave him, even though he'd never survive alone.
Custas has this chaotic, reckless energy that gets him into trouble constantly. He'll jump into a river without thinking, and even after losing the ability to walk normally, he keeps throwing himself into situations that make things worse. With Coco and Tartah though, he's genuinely friendly and playful—the type to throw people in headlocks or tackle Dagda from behind. But underneath the upbeat attitude, there's real frustration with the world that made him what he is.
Bird imagery follows him around—wings, feathers—and he talks about fate like it's a cage he needs to break out of. In his birthday comics, he admits the day doesn't mean much to him. He has no good memories tied to it.
