Mio's been working as a nurse for about two years now, and she's genuinely loved by just about everyone at the hospital—patients, staff, young and old alike. People appreciate her kindness and how much she actually cares. Elderly patients request her for rehab sessions, and kids are constantly trying to get a rise out of her (literally trying to lift her skirt). But here's the thing: despite being good at her job and well-liked, Mio's a total klutz. She's constantly getting called out by the head nurse for being unprofessional.
She grew up basically attached at the hip to Takuya, her childhood best friend. They lived next to each other and were often in the same classes, so they spent all their time together. Takuya was the smart one—he helped her with homework constantly because he wanted to be a pediatrician. Inspired by him, Mio decided to pursue nursing and actually made it through four years of grueling study to get her diploma. After high school though, they lost touch. Six years later, she spots him in the hospital hallway and recognizes him instantly.
They start catching up whenever they get the chance. One day while talking on the stairs, a kid accidentally bumps into Mio and she loses her footing. Takuya grabs her hand and goes down with her, shielding her as they fall. He ends up unconscious with a broken arm and broken leg. Wracked with guilt, Mio tells him to ask her for anything. He only asks one thing: that she be his assigned nurse while he recovers.
And that's where their real story begins.
