Jadeite (Jedite in the English dub) is the first of the Four Kings to show up, and he ranks lowest among them. According to Takeuchi's materials, he looks about 18—making him the second-youngest of the group, though the live-action adaptation made him the youngest overall. He runs the Dark Kingdom's Far-Eastern operations and gets his name from the mineral jadeite.
His core mission across both manga and anime boils down to the same thing: hunt for the Silver Crystal, then pivot to draining human life energy to revive Queen Metaria. The anime expands this into a string of increasingly elaborate schemes, while the manga keeps it tighter.
In the manga, Jadeite barely interacts with his fellow Kings. Nephrite's the only one who really acknowledges him—mostly to mock him when his plans blow up. But when Sailor Mars kills Jadeite, Nephrite actually swears to avenge him, which says something about their bond despite the ribbing. Later, after the Silver Crystal's power surfaces, Jadeite and the other Kings get resurrected briefly, kneel to Prince Endymion, and then crystallize again. They show up afterward as visions offering guidance when Endymion needs it.
The anime version of Jadeite is way more willing to grovel before Beryl, accepting punishment after punishment and just. adjusting his strategy to try harder next time. He's also noticeably more sexist, constantly dismissing the Sailor Scouts as weak girls who can't possibly match him—though the English dub toned that down in favor of straightforward rivalry. By Episode 12 of the dub, he's even flirting with Serena, something that never happened in the original.
His run ends badly. After too many failures, Beryl gives him an ultimatum: destroy the Senshi or face Eternal Sleep. He goes all-in on a final assault, even threatening to level Tokyo. He nearly wins—he actually takes down Tuxedo Mask and comes close to finishing the Scouts—but their teamwork and a curse from Rei backfire on him spectacularly. When he returns to report that he's learned their secret identities, Beryl traps him in an ice crystal and puts him into Eternal Sleep. He never appears again; presumably he's still locked in that crystal when the arc ends.
Power-wise, Jadeite's got illusions and telekinesis down pat. He can manipulate objects from a distance—he once disabled Sailor Moon's tiara—and he's creative with teleportation, which he seemed to enjoy using to get around.
