Kazehaya is the guy everyone gravitates toward—genuinely friendly and outgoing in a way that doesn't feel forced. He's Sawako's classmate and one of the few people who treated her normally from the start, which matters more than he probably realizes given how isolated she'd been.
His popularity is almost absurd. Back in middle school, so many girls were interested in him that they basically formed a pact just to keep things from getting completely chaotic. A bunch of those same girls followed him to high school, which tells you something about his appeal. He's the kind of person who makes befriending him seem effortless.
What's less obvious is that Kazehaya's actually had his eye on Sawako for a while now. He likes her—genuinely—though he'd never admit it to her face, at least not yet. He gets jealous pretty easily, which tends to be the giveaway for people paying attention. The irony is that Sawako feels exactly the same way about him, but neither of them seems to realize it yet.
