Zagan is a talented young sorcerer in the running to become a demon lord. He's handsome enough, but you'd never know it at first glance—he's usually dressed head to toe in dark clothes with a crimson cape, looking every bit the brooding magic researcher he actually is. His silver eyes are sharp and unsettling, perpetually shadowed from sleepless nights spent buried in books and research. His long black hair sits in a messy ponytail that never seems particularly well-kept.
Most of his time is spent locked away in his domain, which he makes clear is off-limits to visitors. To strangers and fellow sorcerers alike, he comes across as cold and intimidating—the type of guy you don't approach unless you want trouble. His neighbor Barbatos certainly keeps his distance. But the truth is simpler: Zagan leaves people alone as long as they return the favor. The moment someone threatens him or his interests, though, that's another story.
Enter Nephy, and suddenly his whole carefully isolated existence gets complicated. Zagan isn't great at talking to people—his social skills are basically nonexistent—but his feelings tend to come through loud and clear in what he does rather than what he says. He cares about her deeply, maybe more than he's cared about anything, and for her sake he actually starts putting in the effort to interact with others. It works too; he picks up followers and people willing to call him a friend, even if some of them had to work to see past his prickly exterior.
People like Chastille and Manuela, who've actually gotten to know him, have figured out that there's a genuinely caring person underneath all that intimidating sorcerer aesthetic. He just doesn't advertise it.
