Testa is a 17-year-old prodigy who's somehow already a university professor specializing in cryptanalysis. His whole thing is languages—he's fluent in pretty much every language from every country that was involved in World War Two, which is kind of the foundation of his expertise in code-breaking.
He had a rough time in boarding school and dealt with bullying, but he's managed to build an impressive career despite that. As far as anyone knows, he's a civilian with no military ties.
