The story's female lead comes from a well-off family and lives independently, with Youtarou quietly looking after her from the shadows. She's always been drawn to the idea of heroes—people who stand up for what's right and refuse to compromise their principles.
For a while, she was genuinely committed to becoming a hero herself, training constantly to make it happen. That changed after an accident during one of her training sessions. She fell, and a masked figure—Knight Lancer—appeared out of nowhere to save her. The encounter left a real impression on her. She became completely enamored with this mysterious protector, idealizing him as everything a hero should be.
The irony is that Knight Lancer is actually Youtarou in disguise, though she has no idea. To her, the shy, unassuming Youtarou is nothing like the dignified, capable hero she admires. They're two completely different people in her mind.
Eventually she shifted her ambitions. Rather than chase the hero's path herself, she decided her goal would be to become someone worthy of Knight Lancer's protection—a great lady he'd be proud to stand beside. It's a quieter dream than her original one, but it's genuinely hers.
