Count Oppenheimer was an Imperial nobleman and admiral who ran the military police under Kaiser Friedrich IV. When the Imperial Civil War broke out in 797 UC, he ended up backing the Lippstadt Alliance—though he later insisted he'd had no choice in the matter, claiming his blood ties to Wilhelm von Littenheim forced his hand.
After the war wrapped up, Reinhard von Lohengramm was actually willing to restore Oppenheimer to his old position. That changed fast when Oppenheimer tried to sweeten the deal by offering him a valuable Erlemeier painting as a bribe. Lohengramm had him arrested on the spot.
