Okita
A boxer training at Nakadai Gym with serious ambitions. He was the Rookie of the Year before Ippo took the title, which stung—especially since he'd modeled his entire style around his idol, Eiji Date, right down to copying Date's signature moves and techniques.
When Date started showing interest in the relatively green Ippo, Okita saw red. He challenged Ippo to prove himself, confident that his signature "corkscrew blow"—lifted straight from Date's playbook—would be enough to win. It wasn't. Ippo knocked him out in the first round, a decisive loss that didn't sit well with the serious young fighter.
Despite the bitter defeat, Okita eventually worked alongside Date as one of his assistants when Date faced off against Ippo in a later, more significant match.
