Yasuke
Yasuke is the protagonist of the anime series Yasuke. Born Eusebio Ibrahimo Baloi, he's a man of African descent who became a samurai in service to Nobunaga Oda.
Yasuke arrived in Japan in 1579 as a bodyguard accompanying Alessandro Valignano, an Italian Jesuit missionary involved in Nanban trade activities. His journey from foreign mercenary to trusted samurai forms the core of his story, making him a notable historical figure in samurai history—though one often overlooked in traditional accounts.
