Princess Ori showed up on Earth just before Tanabata looking for Kengyu, her fiancé who'd been away training. The two are basically the Tanabata legend come to life—star-crossed lovers separated by duty. With Ranma and Akane's help, Ori tracked him down by challenging martial artists across the region. Once Ranma beat Kengyu in a match, the two reunited and headed home.
Turns out the whole thing was Akane's fever dream after taking a nasty fall off a balcony.
That said, Ori and Kengyu's dynamic mirrors Ranma and Akane's situation pretty closely. Both couples are engaged by their parents, both are martial artists, and Ori's just as terrible at cooking and housework as Akane is. The main difference? Ori doesn't play coy about her feelings—she's openly affectionate with Kengyu in a way Akane never quite manages with Ranma, at least not without a lot of blushing and denial first.
