Kouko is a supporting character in Zousho Genei (Library of Illusions). She's married to Gorou, a man whose obsession with his massive personal library gradually pushes their relationship to the breaking point. She was initially drawn to him because of his intelligence and genuine passion for books, but over time she's found herself shut out—he refuses to let her borrow anything from his collection, which creates an awkward distance between them.
Things get worse when Gorou becomes ill with anxiety over some missing books. Desperate to understand what's happening to him, Kouko reads through his diaries, only to helplessly witness her husband's mental state deteriorate into outright psychosis. It's a tragic position to be in: she loves him, but she's powerless to stop his downward spiral.
