Earl runs a Pokémon Academy in Violet City, just like in the games. He showed up in "A Bout With Sprout" when Ash and the gang rolled through. The guy has a thing for dancing—he was literally wearing a tutu when they arrived, which the group found pretty awkward. That is, until Brock found out that Miss Priscilla was into dancers and decided to join in with his own tutu.
Things got a little interesting when Earl tried to wingman for Brock, offering him a permanent spot at the academy to stay close to Miss Priscilla. Brock wasn't having it though and turned him down. When the group finally left, Earl and the rest of the academy staff gave them a friendly send-off.
