Grey lives in Calanthe Town with his wife Florence and their beloved Flabébé. His life took a difficult turn when Florence suddenly collapsed while gardening and had to be rushed to Calanthe Town Central Hospital. Naturally, this devastated Flabébé, who was deeply attached to Florence. The Pokémon was so distressed that she slipped away one night while Grey was sleeping to find her.
When Grey woke and discovered Flabébé missing, he had a pretty good idea where to look. He headed straight to the hospital and spotted her peering through the window of Florence's room. But then a sudden gust of wind swept Flabébé away before he could reach her. Worse, her flower got destroyed by a passing car—a catastrophe for a Flabébé, since they can't survive without one. Grey searched everywhere for her but came up empty, and Florence's heartbreak over losing her only made her recovery slower, despite the fact that she was getting better physically.
Weeks later, Grey spotted Flabébé perched on Bonnie's head during a chance encounter on the street. He was overjoyed to have finally found her, though she refused to go home. It became clear she was waiting for a replacement flower. That's when Ash and his friends stepped in, offering to track down a Fairy Flower from the one place they grow and bring it to Florence's hospital room. They encouraged Grey to stay with his wife in the meantime.
When the group returned with the flower, Flabébé immediately bonded with it and rushed back to Florence. The reunion instantly lifted both Florence and Grey's spirits.
