In Muv-Luv Extra, Ayamine comes across as a delinquent loner who likes to keep things light through blunt, sarcastic remarks—usually to deflect or mess with people. She's got a particular vendetta against Chizuru and seems to enjoy getting under her skin. Pretty selfish by nature, she does her own thing, skips class to hang out on the school rooftop, and has an almost comical obsession with yakisoba.
Once things get serious in Unlimited and Alternative, she joins squad 207 alongside Takeru and becomes a solid close-range fighter, filling the Storm Vanguard role. Her clashes with Chizuru are constant—they just don't click. Chizuru's all discipline and stubbornness while Ayamine deflects with jokes and handles things on her own terms, creating real friction within the unit.
What drives a lot of this tension is Ayamine's past. Her father was a decorated general who got trapped in an impossible choice: save his soldiers or protect civilians. He chose the civilians, got branded a coward for apparently retreating under fire, and was dishonorably discharged. That trauma shaped how Ayamine sees leadership. In her mind, following an incompetent commander leaves you with only two paths—run or die—which is exactly why she struggles so hard with taking orders from Chizuru.
By the time Alternative wraps up though, Ayamine's been through enough that she actually starts trusting her teammates with her life. That's when things shift. Her friendship with Chizuru deepens, and she finds real camaraderie with the rest of squad 207.
