Sandy is a first-year student at Minami Kamakuta Girls High School and an American from Colorado who moved to Kamakura for high school. She shows up briefly in Episode 1, but her real introduction comes in Episode 9, when she befriends Hiromi and joins the cycling club.
Before that official debut, though, fans might recognize her from Episode 6, where she competed in the Night Criterium cycling event dressed as Mr. Bear—and nearly won. That bear costume performance is kind of a big deal because it hints at what becomes clear later: Sandy's got the strongest physical abilities of anyone in the cycling club. Pretty impressive for someone nobody knew much about yet.
