Hajime Saitou
Commander of the Space Cavalry 1st Armored Division, stationed on Planet 11 until a brutal Comet Empire assault forced the Yamato to pull his unit aboard. Saitou's a skilled fighter—trained in judo, karate, and wrestling—but he's also notoriously rough around the edges. He and his men clashed constantly with the Yamato crew, resenting their demotion to mere passengers and itching for a real fight.
That attitude changed once they hit the ground. On Telezart, inside Desler's flagship, and throughout the Comet Empire's space station, Saitou and his soldiers proved they were exactly what the mission needed. By the end, he was the last one standing—and he went out taking the role seriously, detonating explosives at the heart of the Comet Empire's power center.
His name references Saitou Hajime, the real historical captain of the Shinsengumi.
