He's one of the newer trainees at Raijin Stables up in Akita. Pretty shy guy—he doesn't say much, mostly because he's self-conscious about his hoarse voice. He's kind of the odd one out around the stable. He gets sick a lot and tends to be nervous, and before matches he deals with excessive urination and flatulence, which doesn't help his anxiety.
What he's really good at is shogi. Sakaguchi regularly drags him into games, and interestingly, he's basically the only person at the stable Sakaguchi actually treats well. There's something about their dynamic that works.
Despite being so reserved, though, fans often note that when things get serious—like in actual competition—he can flip a switch and get surprisingly aggressive.
