John Welthork is an Australian member of the Bugs II mission. He grew up on a farm with his grandmother, where they raised sheep until an epidemic wiped out their entire flock. That loss pushed him to join the Bugs II program—he needed a way to support his grandmother while pursuing a bigger dream: taking her on an overseas vacation someday.
As part of the program, John underwent Bug Procedure and received Diving Beetle DNA grafted into his body to enhance his physical capabilities. It's a pretty drastic change from farm life, but he's committed to making it work.
