Rachnera's story starts rough. Her first host family wasn't prepared for what she actually was—an Arachne—and basically rejected her on sight. Things got worse when some guy offered them money to take her off their hands. He saw her as a walking business opportunity, forcing her to produce spider silk he could sell. She wasn't having it and ran.
While on the run, she kidnapped Kurusu Kimihito, which obviously got the police involved and made things pretty messy for everyone. That kidnapping is what kicks off her whole arc in the series.
