Moses was a member of the Scouting Legion and, more notably, the first person to be killed by a Titan in the entire series. When the Recon Corps squad returns to Shiganshina District after their mission, his mother comes looking for him. The squad leader has to break the news by handing over the only thing left of Moses—his right arm.
Interestingly, the character goes by "Brown" in the manga, but the anime adaptation changed his name to Moses.
