Sakura first showed up in "Trouble's Brewing" and immediately clicked with Misty—both being the youngest of multiple sisters gave them common ground. The two stayed close after that.
When the group rolled through Ecruteak City in "Espeon, Not Included," they ran into Sakura again. Her Eevee had evolved into an Espeon by then. Most recently, she appeared in the special episode "The Blue Badge of Courage," where she'd decided to start her gym challenge journey. She visited Misty in Cerulean City during that time.
