Fujiko is Lupin's on-and-off love interest, though their relationship is complicated. They've slept together occasionally, usually when she's fishing for information he has, but they're not exactly steady lovers. Lupin is completely infatuated with her and will do practically anything she asks, which Fujiko knows and exploits without hesitation—though she's careful never to get him in trouble he can't escape. Creator Monkey Punch has said the two "enjoy each other" and are content with their strange dynamic, comparing it to his own marriage. Fujiko does care for him underneath everything, even if she won't admit it most of the time; when Lupin's apparently died, she's grieved deeply. But once he shows up alive again, those feelings get buried back under her usual scheming.
She's not officially part of the gang, but she shows up constantly to either partner with them or work against them. Her standard move is to stick around until the heist pays off, then stab everyone in the back. She's also willing to double-cross Lupin to get close to whoever they're targeting, work a deal with Zenigata or his enemies for her freedom, or even temporarily replace Zenigata at Interpol—though that last one was just cover to crack a secret vault. Lupin finds this endlessly forgivable. In the 1999 TV movie Da Capo of Love: Fujiko's Unlucky Days, he tenderly looks after an amnesiatic Fujiko because he "looks forward to her betrayals."
Skills-wise, she's a force to be reckoned with. She's an excellent marksman with a Browning M1910 usually strapped in her garter, and later films revealed she's also a skilled martial artist capable of dropping attackers twice her weight with one blow. She's fluent in Japanese plus dozens of other languages, excellent with disguises and accents, and can pilot virtually any vehicle—her personal favorite being a Kawasaki motorcycle. She's also good at seduction when the job demands it and has kissed or slept with various men to get what she needs. The 2012 anime series implies she might be bisexual, though it's unclear if that's genuine attraction or just another tool in her arsenal.
Jigen can't stand her and takes her appearance as a bad omen, though he was actually one of her suitors back in the original manga. Goemon's been known to work jobs with her independently and can be just as distrustful when he suspects she's manipulating Lupin, but in Part II they're shown working together repeatedly, trusting each other's lives. The anime occasionally shows Fujiko with a more playful side, where she pranks Lupin just for fun.
When it comes to fashion, Fujiko favors formal gowns and fine jewelry, or when she's dressing down, clothes that show off her figure. She loves shopping, social events, dancing at discos, horseback riding, and dating wealthy guys. She's into champagne, good wine, martinis, and cigarettes, and occasionally smokes a traditional Japanese pipe. One thing she notably dislikes: frogs.
