Joanne Harcourt
A second-year student at Weston College in Red House, Joanne is known for his gentle nature, though that's pretty much where his confidence ends. He spent time as Edgar Redmond's Fag—a role that actually meant something to him—but the damage was already done. Most of the student body had written him off as a liar, and he'd internalized it completely.
His self-esteem took a serious hit. He's become withdrawn, convinced he's only good for one thing: reading. The idea of being popular doesn't even register as worth pursuing. That said, he's genuinely friendly toward others, which makes the whole situation sadder—he blames himself rather than them.
Emotionally, he's fragile. It doesn't take much to reduce him to tears, especially when someone brings up how poorly other students treat him. But he's not entirely hopeless; serving under Redmond seemed to give him back some of what he'd lost. There's a hint that he can bounce back if given the right circumstances.
