Revy
Revy (also known as Rebecca) is the main character of the series and the muscle behind the Lagoon Company. She handles most of the heavy lifting when it comes to combat, though her backstory remains mostly shrouded in mystery.
A Chinese-American from Chinatown in Manhattan, Revy spent her formative years as a thief and killer. Flashbacks suggest she perfected her gun skills through practice—allegedly shooting cans as a kid—and that her first kill involved an unknown victim and a pillow, though whether the pillow was used for sound suppression or personal comfort remains unclear.
Personality and Combat Style
Revy's quick to anger, easily bored, and fiercely competitive. Where Rock approaches situations diplomatically, she favors brute force and doesn't hesitate to coerce people into compliance. She's also unexpectedly ticklish, which catches people off guard. Despite her brutal reputation, she does have a soft side—she respects and trusts her crew, even if she doesn't show it often.
She's a merciless killer with little regard for collateral damage. Dutch has compared her temperament to the University of Texas shooter, particularly after an incident where a conversation with Rock triggered violent memories and sent her into a murderous rampage. She's made it clear that anyone questioning her methods should expect retaliation. Of everyone in the series, she swears the most and drinks and smokes constantly.
Revy's relationship with Rock is complicated. She's mostly hostile toward him—she's literally shot at him multiple times—but she also regularly saves his life when it matters. Eventually she admits to Balalaika that she sees him as family, though hints of jealousy when Eda teases them suggest there might be more to it.
Skills and Weapons
Revy is one of the deadliest combatants around, with near-superhuman accuracy and reflexes. Only a handful of fighters—Roberta and Ginji among them—can match her in a fight. The Roanapur underworld knows her as "Two Hand" for good reason: she's ambidextrous with her pair of custom Beretta 92FS pistols, complete with extended barrels, silencers, and engravings of the Jolly Roger from pirate Calico Jack. The grips are ivory with the pirate flag inlaid, and "9mm Sword Cutlass" is etched into the sides. She'll pick up whatever else she needs though.
Philosophy
Revy operates on the principle that only power and money matter. She doesn't believe in God or letting emotions dictate her choices, instead relying solely on her own skills and instincts. Living constantly on the edge has given her a bleak, almost nihilistic worldview—though that doesn't stop her from showing genuine respect for the people she works with.
