The 62nd master of Hokuto Shinken and best known in Shanghai, where he goes by "Yán Wáng" (閻王). He's a lecturer at Touwa Women's University in Japan and has a reputation for being laid-back and funny—though he never fully drops the stoic warrior thing his nephew would later become famous for. Creator Tetsuo Hara has described him as basically mixing the raw strength of his namesake Kenshirou with the easygoing nature of Keiji Maeda and a good helping of sarcasm.
His fighting style mirrors his relative Toki's approach: fluid, graceful, nothing flashy. He shares his nephew's signature killing technique and catchphrase "You're already dead," though he delivers it in Chinese as "Nǐ yǐ jīng sǐ le" (儞已經死了) rather than Japanese. Cigarettes, books, and an oddly sharp sense of smell round out his character—small details that stuck with fans.
Interestingly, despite his father Tesshin being the actual successor to Hokuto Shinken, Kenshirou inherited the true Hokuto bloodline through his mother's side of the family, which is kind of a big deal in terms of martial arts lineage.
