Shinichi is the protagonist of this manga series, a thoughtful and compassionate high school student whose life gets turned upside down when a Parasite infects his right hand. The entity that takes over—Migi—becomes an unwilling roommate he has to figure out how to live with, which is easier said than done.
His whole situation is basically a mess of competing needs. He wants to protect humanity from the Parasite threat, but he also can't let anyone find out about Migi, since that would mean either getting killed or dissected in some lab. On top of that, he's got to come up with excuses for his friends and family whenever he's off fighting other Parasites or dealing with the emotional fallout—kind of like a superhero trying to keep their secret identity intact, except the secret is literally attached to his hand.
What makes Shinichi dangerous to other Parasites, ironically, is that he's still fully human. He thinks, he feels, and he has a conscience. Most Parasites see that as a liability, which puts him and Migi constantly under threat. But their ability to work as an actual team, thinking and acting independently while still coordinating, gives them a serious tactical advantage over standard Parasites that just operate on pure instinct. That partnership ends up being what keeps them both alive.
