Trixie is a circus performer who runs a traveling Pokémon act. She first met Ash's group when searching for her missing Azumarill, and once they found it, she realized the Aqua Rabbit Pokémon had been acting strange lately—refusing to perform and generally off its usual behavior. She invited everyone to catch her circus show, though things got chaotic when Ash's Totodile showed up infatuated with her Azumarill, much to the latter's obvious annoyance.
When Team Rocket snatched both Azumarill and Totodile, Trixie used her Pidgey to track down the villains' balloon. After Ash freed the captives during the rescue, Azumarill's weird behavior finally made sense: she'd actually been falling for Trixie's Golduck the whole time. That revelation surprised pretty much everyone in the group.
