As an adult, Simon runs a rest stop positioned between Ecruteak City and Olivine City, where he uses his abilities to help Pokémon and their Trainers.

Before she can arrest him, missiles suddenly go off outside, creating chaos and smoke. During the confusion, a group of fake Pokémon interpreters kidnaps Simon. Simon breaks free to check on Pikachu, who's been rushed to the Pokémon Center after inhaling smoke from the explosions. This is where his abilities get proven beyond doubt. The fake interpreters send their Magnemite and Magneton to drain electricity from the Center's Pokémon. Simon communicates with them, explaining they're hurting the other Pokémon. The two Pokémon stop immediately and turn on their trainers, leading to Officer Jenny finally arresting the whole group. She apologizes and admits Simon's the real deal.
The next day, Simon tells Ash and friends he's thinking about giving up his interpreting work, but they encourage him to keep going. Later, Meowth—who respects what Simon does—pulls together a fake talking Pokémon encounter just to convince Simon to stay in the game.
