Rochelle is a one-off character from the episode "Roll On, Pokémon!" (EP122). She lives in a valley nestled between New Bark Town and Cherrygrove City, where she hunts for amberite with her Donphan—valuable stones she sells to local artisans, collectors, and jewelers.
She first meets the group when Ash tries to catch one of her Donphan, not realizing it's already hers. Rochelle steps in front of the injured Pokémon and threatens to call Officer Jenny. Brock immediately makes his move, asking for her name in his typical romantic fashion. She tells him, and when he compliments her amberite necklace, she thanks him politely—but it's clear she finds his attention uncomfortable and keeps her distance throughout the episode.
Despite her coolness toward Brock, Rochelle is genuinely devoted to her Pokémon. She panics when Team Rocket kidnaps one of her untrained Donphan, and she clearly trusts her team deeply, giving them plenty of freedom to roam and using a whistle to call them when needed. She's also observant enough to give Ash and the others a detailed description of the people who took her Donphan.
