Cyrus is a Sunflora trainer from Bloomingvale who showed up in "Grin to Win!" He's Sonrisa's neighbor and, like basically everyone in town, obsessed with raising Sunflora. He's won the Sunflora of the Year award three times, which speaks to his credentials.
The episode centers around Team Rocket breaking into his greenhouse to steal a Sunflora for the upcoming festival. Meowth accidentally sets off the alarm during the heist, and while Jessie and James bolt, Cyrus catches Meowth and ties him up. Misty convinces Cyrus that Meowth is actually an innocent Pokémon corrupted by the other two, and talks him into handing Meowth over to them instead.
It turns out Meowth had been close with Sonrisa's Sunflora—nicknamed Sunny—and knew why it'd been acting depressed. Turns out Sunny missed playing with Cyrus's old Sunflora, Gwendela, which Cyrus had traded away to Nurse Joy just the day before. The group finds this out too late to do much about it.
At the Sunflora Festival competition, Cyrus enters with a Sunflora called Dorabelle that's absolutely massive compared to normal ones—way taller than a person. Despite his experience and that intimidating size advantage, he ends up losing to Sonrisa and Sunny in the finals.
